CASE STUDY 3
My name is Sam and this is my third year at CANTO.
Structure: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9am - 4pm.
Aim: To develop the skills to gain greater independence.
Work Placement: I spent the first two years of my time at CANTO on the iCan progamme an completed some qualifications as well as spending time at our work centre in Wellingborough. I have been able to completed supported work placements for a dog walking charity and at a farm. I have now joined one of our work groups that go to a church in Northamptonshire to carry out the weekly cleaning, I am developing my work skills whilst I do this.
Subjects Studied: Life skills, maths, English, supported work centre, supported work group in local church, ICT.
Planned Progression: I am hoping to develop my skills further so I can become as independent as I am able.
CASE STUDY 2
My name is Billy and this is my third year at CANTO.
Structure: Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9am - 4pm.
Aim: To develop skills to gain greater independence.
Current Activities: Billy has just moved onto our LINK programme after spending two years on our iCan programme. Billy has been able to access a mixture of supported work placements whilst at CANTO including the Castle Theatre and a local shop. He has also regularly attended our work centre to develop his work skills along with his independence. He accesses regular sessions aimed at developing his practical skills in maths and English to support his future independence. He also has regular Life skills sessions. He is also on a regular basis able to choose from a selection of our many options to build up the rest of his time on programme. The programme is aimed to help Billy to develop greater independence.
Subjects studied: Maths, English, ICT, Life Skills, Work Centre and along with choices from our vocational options which include Drama, Music, Art and Photography.
Planned progression: Billy is working hard to develop his independence skills at the moment.
